Panama seizes hundreds of clandestine agrochemicals admitted from Costa Rica

July 29, 2019 by Staff News Writer

Officials of the National Border Service (Senafront) of Panama seized 690 boxes and tanks of agrochemicals who entered this country illegally on July 23rd from Costa Rica.

The cargo was traveling in two trucks. One of them had a Costa Rican license plate and another had a Panamanian license plate.

According to the official report, replicated by TVN Noticias de Panama, the suspicious drivers made a transfer of the cargo and that’s when officials decided to investigate and confiscate the cargo.

In total, four people (Panamanians and Costa Ricans) were arrested and placed at the judicial authorities of that country.

The merchandise, the vehicles involved and the suspicious cargo were held by the Public Ministry of Barú.
