EcoRomería wants to reduce the single-use plastic on pilgrimage

July 29, 2019 by Staff News Writer

In its ninth edition of the EcoRomería, the program insists on raising public awareness about the use and management of waste.

The Minister of Health, Daniel Salas, emphasized the “culture” of recycling and care for the environment, hence the importance of making rational use of materials such as plastic.

As explained by Jorge Saénz, head of Red Cross projects, 32 collection centers and 40 classification points will be set up from San José to Los Angeles Basilica, in Cartago.

The Archbishop of San José, Monsignor José Rafael Quirós, insisted on the importance of “taking care of our common house”. Municipalities, Catholic Church, Ministry of Health, Red Cross and private enterprise participate in the EcoRomería 2019.
