Costa Rican authorities deport 16 foreigners

A foreigner of Nicaraguan nationality nameed Ramírez Guzmán was expelled from the country on Thursday after serving a sentence for the crime of sexual abuse against a minor.

Ramírez, 27, got his permanent resident immigration category canceled and was prevented from entering the country for a period of 25 years, as indicated in article 187 of the General Law on Migration and Foreigners 8764.

The foreigner entered the Central Region Apprehension Center on July 17th.

In addition to the expulsion of Ramírez, 15 Nicaraguan citizens were deported for being in an irregular condition. The oreigners were prevented from entering the country for five years. Both the expulsion and deportations were carried out in the border post located in Las Tablillas.

According to Stephen Madden, Director of the Professional Migration Police, they will continue with controls and surveillance to prevent foreigners from breaching the conditions of regularization and security.
