Alvarado will make an official visit to Panama this weekend

President Carlos Alvarado, will travel to Panama on Friday and Saturday for an official visit, the Presidency of the Republic reported.

Alvarado will meet with his Panamanian counterpart, Laurentino Cortizo, who assumed the power of that nation on July 1st. On Saturday, a meeting is scheduled with the representative of the High Commissioner for Human Rights for the Region based in Panama, Marlene Alejos.

The President will travel with First Lady Claudia Dobles, Public Security Minister Michael Soto, the vice chancellor Lorena Aguilar, and the Director General of Foreign Policy, Adriana Bolaños.

In the bilateral meeting that will be held at the Palacio de Las Garzas in Panama City, the heads of state are expected to address and analyze issues about security, cooperation, borders, migration, tourism and the environment.

It is a very important meeting because Panama is a strategic partner for Costa Rica, the objective is to strengthen a binational policy and address specific issues of security, migration, trade, tourism, development and cooperation,”

said President Carlos Alvarado.

The presidential delegation will return on Saturday afternoon to participate in the session of the Governing Council that will be held in Limón.
