Road operations for national holidays will start on Friday

Road operations for the celebration of Independence Day will begin from next Friday, September 13th, and will run until Sunday.

The General Directorate of the Traffic Police reported that by Friday the entry of the Independence Torch, from Nicaragua, is expected at 11:00 am. From that moment, the authorities will offer an escort that will extend for 339 kilometers until the arrival in Cartago.

The route goes from La Cruz, in Guanacaste, through Liberia and visiting population centers, such as Cañas, Bagaces and Puntarenas sites such as Esparza, to San Ramón de Alajuela, Palmares, Naranjo and Grecia, for example, always using as the main route the Interamericana Norte and making temporary detours to the centers of the Alameda communities already mentioned,”

said the Traffic Police.

Alajuela and Heredia will also be visited by the Torch of Independence. After leaving the province of flowers, the torch will travel through La Valencia to La Pozuelo and from there to the Juan Pablo II bridge, where it will go back to national route 1, General Cañas highway sector, to Paseo Colón and Avenida Segunda.

Later, it will be in the Central Park of San José where the penultimate act with the torch will be performed at 6:00 pm. Then, the torch will continue towards Cartago, passing through la Fuente de la Hispanidad, Tres Ríos, and finally to the central park of the canton.

By Saturday, September 14th, there will be a transversal passage on the Paseo Colón with closure on Second Avenue and the central park of the capital.

For Sunday September 15, Independence Day, the operations will focus on the National Park by virtue of the celebration activity headed by the President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado.

The event is scheduled for 9:00 am However, road closures will be effective from 6:00 am.
