Extraordinary budget approved for ¢14 billion

On Thursday, With 43 votes in favor, the Legislature approved in the second reading the fourth extraordinary budget of the Republic for a total of ¢14 billion.

Most of these resources (¢6.8 billion) are for the service of public debt, followed by ¢2.5 billion directed to the Comprehensive Agricultural Marketing Program (PIMA) for the construction, equipment and start-up of the Chorotega Regional Wholesale Market.

The budget also includes ¢1.8 billion for the Ministry of Public Education (MEP) to hire cooks and food purchases for educational centers and ¢1 billion for the Ministry of Labor and Social Security for infrastructure works in indigenous areas and to assist the unemployed population in Limón.

In addition, budget modifications are authorized for ¢2.1 billion.

The project will now go to the Executive Branch for its signature and publication in the official newspaper La Gaceta.
