Delegations from more than 30 countries arrive for PreCOP25

The Preparatory Conference on Climate Change ( PreCOP25 ) will bring together more than 1,500 participants, including senior officials and ministers from more than 30 nations as of Tuesday, October 8th, and a large number of delegations has arrived to the country.

The PreCOP25 will run until the 10th and includes an agenda of more than 70 different activities between forums, round tables, talks, high-level panels and political dialogues.

At the ministerial and vice ministerial level, representatives from Germany, Andorra, Belize, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Ecuador, El Salvador, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, Finland and France will participate in the meeting.

They will also join leaders of Gabon, Grenada, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Luxembourg, Nicaragua, Norway, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, United Kingdom, Dominican Republic, Russia, Senegal, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden and Miguel Arias CaƱete, Commissioner for Climate and Energy Action of the European Union.

The representatives of the governments will be accompanied by delegates from the negotiation process, representatives of international organizations, local governments, communities, civil society and the private sector, as well as Costa Ricans interested in climate action that will get to learn and share experiences.

In total, 800 Costa Ricans and 700 foreigners will participate.

This Tuesday’s meeting is the prelude where conditions will be prepared to generate agreements at the United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP) against climate change, which will be held in Chile in December this year.
