University expands protests until Wednesday

October 21, 2019 by Staff News Writer

Students from public universities are not only going to protest on Tuesday, they will also do it on Wednesday.

Through its social networks, the Federation of Students of the University of Costa Rica (FEUCR) announced that the protests in front of the Presidential House will be extended until Wednesday.

The students, driven by the university’s own rectors, will demonstrate against the government’s decision to redirect ยข35 billion of the budget of the Special Fund for Higher Education (FEES) for educational infrastructure works, as they ensure that this decision affects the provision of other services, such as scholarships.

In the case of the UCR, students plan to leave at 9 am both days.

In the case of the National University (UNA), the rector of that school, Alberto Salom announced in his social networks that they will provide transportation services to bring the students to protest.
