Weekend showers cause floods and landslides

October 22, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The rains that occurred over the weekend in the country caused 28 incidents as floods and landslides in some areas.

Sigifredo Pérez, chief of operations of the National Emergency Commission (CNE) reported that some of these events are associated with flooding due to saturation of sewer systems.

According to the official, it was not necessary to enable shelters. However, they remain alert and ask the population to exercise caution.

It is important to consider that, due to the amount of accumulated rainfall, we have saturated soils, mainly in the Pacific coast, some sectors of the North Zone and the Metropolitan Area,”

he added.
