Federal agents of the United States carry out investigations against an Italian restaurant owner in that country, for apparent illegal operations through bookmakers in Costa Rica.
The information was revealed by the NBC 5 channel, who have a search warrant that was apparently leaked by mistake from the Department of Immigration and Customs, revealing that there were more tahn 190 telephone connections made by David Campisi, owner of Campisi restaurants in Dallas, Texas, to Costa Rican phone numbers.
According to the content of documents prepared by agents of National Security Investigations and the criminal division of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the betting houses with origin in Costa Rican soil, produced more than $ 2,000 per day.
These monies were illegally transferred to the US financial system since the issue of sports betting in that country is punished with jail.

The investigation began after another 2012 investigation, which targeted 20 bookmakers linked to an illegal gaming operation that raised more than $ 5.4 billion between 2007 and 2011.
Those 20 defendants have already been investigated by judicial authorities of the Dallas Prosecutor’s Office, and have pleaded guilty to crimes such as money laundering.
