New government of Bolivia recognizes Guaidó as president of Venezuela

November 15, 2019 by Staff News Writer

On Thursday, the government of the interim president of Bolivia, Jeanine Áñez, recognized the opposition leader Juan Guaidó as president of Venezuela, by breaking the alliance with Nicolás Maduro that ex- president Evo Morales had, said the Minister of Communication, Roxana Lizárraga.

Áñez has decided to recognize President Juan Guaidó,”

Lizárraga told reporters, in her first activity as a new Minister of Communication, after being sworn in on Wednesday by the new president along with 10 other ministers.

Guaidó is recognized as president in charge of Venezuela by fifty countries, but in practice the control of the country remains in the hands of the chavista government of Maduro, a strong ally of Morales.

Maduro condemned on Sunday what he denounced as a “coup d’etat” in Bolivia.
