Oil continues to rise but doesn’t reach $50

May 31, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Oil prices recorded a slight increase on May, 30th, pending the OPEC meeting on June, 2nd.

The barrel of Brent, the European crude benchmark, gained 25 cents to $49.57 for July’s delivery.

In electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), a barrel of “light sweet crude” (WTI) gained 14 cents to $49.47 for the same delivery date.

The president of the Federal Reserve, Janet Yellen, aims to increase interest rates in coming months if the US economy allows it.
