First weekend of holiday results in seven homicides; expat dead

This weekend several events are reported firearm. CRH.

Among the dead this weekend is a U.S. national who suffered a gunshot wound, while inside a vehicle in Brasilito Playa, Santa Cruz de Guanacaste. A total of seven people died over the holiday weekend from gunshot wounds in various acts of violence throughout Costa Rica.

  • In Goicoechea, an 18 year old died man after being shot nine times.
  • In Los Guido de Desamparados, a 42 year old man died after being shot while defending his 18 year old daughter.
  • Two Nicaraguan men were shot after getting into an argument at a clandestine bar in Los Guido de Desamparados.
  • An attorney, Vargas Sancho was found dead, bound and beaten after being tortured in a field in La Guácimo. His abandoned vehicle was found 30 kilometers from the scene.
