538 student cafeterias will be open during school break

July 4, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Some school cafeterias will continue to work during the school break to start this Monday.

This will benefit 85 thousand students in vulnerable areas of Costa Rica, who will be given lunch from Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., according to the Ministry of Public Education (MEP).

The measure required an investment of 390 million colones and 450 cooks and employees; and unlike other years, this time students from rural, indigenous and night schools will also receive the benefit, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

In addition, transportation will also be provided for students in areas with transportation difficulties.
