José María Figueres: this path is difficult but the odds are not entirely against her

July 8, 2016 by Staff News Writer

With tears in his eyes and with great excitement, the former president of the Republic, José María Figueres, referred to his sister’s candidacy to the general secretariat of the United Nations.

The path Christiana has chosen has never been easy and this one is certainly difficult and very complex, but the odds are not entirely against her,

said Figueres.

As mentioned by chancellor González and president Luis Guillermo Solís, the politician highlighted that Costa Rica is seen as a place of peace and democracy and that is a great strength.

He confirmed that everyone in the family is very happy and proud of his sister, who has what it takes to be a U.N. Secretary General.

She is very talented, very Tica and she is very proud of her country,

said Figueres.
