In Alajuela women can choose the position when giving birth

July 25, 2016 by Staff News Writer

To choose the position when giving birth is a possibility in Alajuela, thanks to some changes due to the implementation of the Good Treatment Policy of obstetrics, gynecology and pediatrics services in San Rafael Hospital.

The goal is to provide both the pregnant mother and her companion a pleasant stay at the moment of giving birth.

Doctor Jorge García, hospital obstetrician and coordinator of the project, expressed that they are transforming delivery care and they are also committed to offer a humane treatment.

The specialist explained that pregnant women can choose the position that suits them best and obstetricians must adapt to it. Oral hydration has also been improved thanks to the collaboration of the nutrition service.

San Rafael Hospital in Alajuela assists approximately 5,000 births every year.
