Authorities seize ton of marijuana in Limón

Authorities from the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) and Coast Guard seized more than a ton of marijuana on July, 26th.

This was confirmed by Gustavo Mata, Security Minister, who added that 3 people were arrested, one of them is a Nicaraguan national and the other two are from Costa Rica.

According to Mata, they received information about a boat from Jamaica with several subjects and therefore an entire operation was carried out in the coasts of Limón and they managed to intercept the suspects 100 miles offshore.

There were three individuals in the boat with a significant amount of fuel and approximately one ton of marijuana. Thanks to the coordination of police forces and intelligence units from around the world, this operation concluded with an excellent result,”
