Alert of fraud on behalf of the Municipality of Nicoya

August 12, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Nicoya’s Mayor claims there are people who are asking for money on behalf of the municipality. These people knock on home doors and ask for money to “set aside” a field for housing, to work in the municipality or make payment arrangements. However, it could be a fraud.

For this reason, on Wednesday the population was informed that the municipality has no housing projects and it does not raise money from house to house.

People come to inform that some individuals who identify themselves as officials of the municipality, are asking for money to start working in the institution. That’s not true, the municipality is not recruiting staff, and if that was the case, we would never request money,”

said Marco Antonio Jiménez, Mayor of Nicoya.

The municipality only accepts tax payments in the collecting boxes or through bank deposits to accounts of the council.

The Mayor urged to call the Judicial Investigation Agency or the security forces and report the situation.
