The country leaders’ meeting was held to discuss issues of national importance

August 18, 2016 by Staff News Writer

In order to allocate new funds for public security, President Luis Guillermo Solís, sent an urgent message to the legislators, requesting by bill the reestablishment of a tax on legal entities, due to the information he received about police officers’ deficit, which is close to 1500.

This issue was addressed by the President at the end of his regular meetings with the heads of the Supreme Electoral Court, the Supreme Court and the National Assembly.

At the meeting, the leaders discussed about security aspects, migration and others. Zarella Villanueva, President of the Supreme Court, asked for support to strengthen the judicial intervention of the communication centers. It is  important to mention that this action is only allowed in cases of drug trafficking, organized crime, people trafficking, kidnapping and money laundering.

On the other hand, Luis Antonio Sobrado, President of the Supreme Electoral Court, informed about changes in the identification cards that will take place in September.

In the meeting, José Alfaro, President of the National Assembly, expressed his will to reduce political campaigns budget from 0.19% to 0.11% from the gross domestic product.
