Suspect dies in gunfight with police

The officer is recovering in the Hospital Calderón Guardia.

An alleged assailant, died after being shot in the chest by a policeman, who also sustained three bullet wounds in the exchange on Friday afternoon in Montes de Oca, San José. Both were transported by police to Calderon Guardia Hospital. According to police reports the officer observed the suspect committing armed robbery and confronted him after releasing the victims. The report also indicated that the dead mean had an extensive criminal record for robbery and narcotics distribution.
