Coffee and sugarcane producers will be benefited with 5 billion colones

August 23, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Sugarcane and coffee producers (cañeros and cafetaleros) from Pérez Zeledón will receive a good cash injection in the form of 5 billion colones credits available for productive projects.

Nearly 8,500 farmers will benefit from this money invested by the Development Banking System in this area of the country. Livestock producers will also benefit.

The nature of social solidarity economy shows that it is possible to create and distribute wealth, generating equitable development and sustainability, which is possible under a set of economic and business activities,”

said the President Luis Guillermo Solís, who made a symbolic delivery of funds to producers.

The resources for this funding come from the Financing Fund for Development (FOFIDE) and are provided by Banco de Costa Rica (BCR) as part of the 5% of the profits that state banks add to this Fund.

Welmer Ramos, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry stressed the importance of the Development Bank to finance entrepreneurial projects that allow regional growth in the country.
