More than 400 ICE employees requested labour mobility

August 24, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) received new applications to be part of the Voluntary Labour Mobility Program (MLV), a process that finished this month.

419 people submitted their request, but applications in business areas, commercial management or customer service were denied. A press release indicated that these cases should be studied because the measure should not affect the service or care that clients receive.

The MLV is a plan in which some benefits are included, such as the recognition of a certain number of wages so that officials who meet the requirements can stop working for the organization. In this case, a 4 salaries offer was calculated.

In January, 2016, 453 people joined the program, and since 2012, 1,151 officials have applied. This represents a cumulative saving of 108 billion colones.

Carlos Manuel Obregón, chief executive officer of ICE said that its only objective is to optimize resources and strengthen ICE Group so it continues contributing with its experience and ability to benefit the country.

Other institutions such as the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) and Bank of Costa Rica have also conducted mobilization programs among their employees.
