Artisans facing imminent eviction do not give up

September 1, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The Municipality of San José (MSJ) announced that the deadline for the eviction of the Handicraft and Painting Market, located in 13th Bis Street, is on September 30th, but the sellers say that they will not give up.

Juan Rodríguez, sellers’ spokesman, believes that the new administration has dealt with the issue on a “silly” way and declared that the order from the Ministry of Health to close down the market for not complying with the proper operating conditions was promoted by the municipality.

The Municipality offered a new space for the handicraft market, located in the South of the Garantías Sociales Park, to those artisans who voluntarily leave the old space before the requested date.
