Strike ends in Goicochea Municipality

Garbage collectors of Goicoechea Municipality reached an agreement with Mayor Ana Lucía Madrigal, after workers held a strike from Wednesday.

Officials claimed that there was an unequal workloads, so some workers collected up to 34 tons of trash, while others were limited to collecting only 14 tons.

The service will be restored from tomorrow, the strike ended with an interim agreement because the service fixed garbage collection companies will come to strengthen the service in 15 days,”

said Rebeca Céspedes, president of the branch of the National Association of Public and Private Employees (ANEP).

The agreement signed by workers and city authorities states that several crews will strengthen the service in Ipís and La Lupa.
