Businessmen are worried: gas price could increase

September 7, 2016 by Staff News Writer

12 chambers from the private sector expressed their concern about some legislators’ writ of protection, that intends to eliminate a presidential decree, which had prevented a rise of 72% in gas costs and 35% in bunker price. These chambers are:

-Chamber of Industries of Costa Rica (ICRC).
-National Association of Exporters of Textile Industry (ANEIT).
-Costa Rican Textile Chamber (CATECO).
-Chamber of Exporters of Costa Rica (CADEXCO).
-Costa Rican Chamber of United Carriers (CCTU).
-Chamber of Information and Communication Technology (INFOCOM).
-Costa Rican Chamber of Food Industry (CACIA).
-Real Estate Development Council of Costa Rica (CODI).
-Chamber of Costa Rican-American Trade (AMCHAM).
-Costa Rican Chamber of Restaurants and Related (CACORE).
-Association of Free Zones (AZOFRAS).
-Costa Rican Chamber of Construction (CCC).

According to them, eliminating this decree would have serious consequences for Costa Ricans on issues such as unemployment, investment, exports, public finance, public works, social security contributions, among many others.
