Medical rates will be delayed again

September 8, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Medical rates will not come into force for another 3 moths, while the College of Physicians continues reviewing the prices of 9,000 medical-surgical procedures.

The initiative created controversy after an increase of up to 300% in some procedures was revealed.

With this extension, the effective date of the rates would be December 18th.

What we want is that the minimum fees for medical-surgical procedures in private practice are proportional, reasonable and in line with the national reality. The implementation of the rates will be a guide for users to know in advance the minimum amounts of each of the procedures, but it will also become a tool to prevent unfair competition in the medical community,”

said Alexis Castillo, president of the College of Physicians.

The authorities of the entity committed to make improvements so that the new rates have minimum amounts accessible to the general population.
