OIJ dismantled an important gang of car thieves

The Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) arrested 18 people linked to an organized criminal gang dedicated to car theft. It operated in 4 provinces: Heredia, San José, Limón and Alajuela.

Walter Espinoza, OIJ director, explained that this is one of the most important criminal organizations in the country. He also informed that they were related to other crimes such as assaults, drug trafficking and attempted murder.

The economic impact of this criminal group is approximately of 370 million colones.

256 OIJ agents participated in the operation, as well as officials from the Ministry of Public Security (MSP).
