CNE decreed a yellow alert due to Turrialba eruption

The National Emergency Commission (CNE) declared a yellow alert in 3 cantons of Cartago, as explained by Iván Brenes, president of the organization. However, evacuees have not been reported.

The municipal and communal committees were activated and the Volcano area is closed. A squad located 5 kilometers from the entrance was established and we currently keep a yellow alert in Turrialba, Alvarado and Oreamuno. In addition, a green alert for Jiménez and Cartago was also declared,

said Brenes.

He added that technical staff is in the area, as well as geologists and other technicians.
