A bill aims to digitize bills

September 27, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The heads of parliamentary parties agreed to speed up the reading and voting on a reform to digitize bills instead of sending them to the National Printing Office to publish them.

This was confirmed by legislator Mario Redondo, proponent of the initiative.

The legislator said that they aim to make it a priority and to pass the initiative this week.

If the amendment to article 177 of the regulation is approved, Congress would save 174 million colones a year in paper costs.

According to a report from the Congress’ Finance Department, the Legislature invested 1,136,922 million colones in publishing projects from January 2010 to July 2016.
