Teachers do not support the law against bullying in schools

October 4, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The Association of High School Teachers (APSE) described as “negligent and malicious” the law that aims to prevent bullying in public and private schools.

The bill was passed in second reading on September 21st, and it intends to prevent harassment and to sanction teachers or school officials who fail to address such cases. However, it doesn’t apply disciplinary measures against students who bully their classmates.

The project talks about prevention, but there is not a single line in it about how to prevent it. It also mentions investment, but we don’t have any psychologists or counselors to attend what is happening,

stated Ricardo Molina, president of APSE.

The union representative declared that the solution is to address the harassment problem in a more comprehensive way.
