October 19, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Authorities from the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) rewarded 4 groups of workers who participated in the Good Treatment Competition.

Their projects stood out over 21 proposals that aimed to improve care to health service users.

The winners were from the Hatillo Health Area and San Carlos Hospital.

Edgar Carrillo, medical director from the hospital, explained that they competed with several projects such as placing information screens in waiting rooms, as well as training workers in English language to better serve users.

However, according to him, the greatest achievement is the creation from the outpatient surgery center.

San Carlos Hospital winners were awarded with 30 million colones, which should help them to sustain the projects.

Furthermore, Los Santos Health Area won the first place in the health areas category. Its project intended to train employees to improve service. Winners won 20 million.

In addition, workers from Enrique Baltodano Hospital, in Liberia, received an honorable mention.

San Juan de Dios hospital and El Hatillo Health Area received the special recognition thanks to the work they’ve performed in the last year. The prizes are 15 and 10 million colones, which must be invested in projects that benefit the population.
