A bill aims to punish dog attacks

September 22, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The Committee on Youth, Children and Adolescents from the Legislative Assembly proposed a bill that punishes with 8 years of imprisonment owners whose dogs kill people due to negligence.

This is an amendment to article 117 from the Criminal Code, which aims to especially protect minors against the numerous violent animals’ attacks.

The initiative was presented by members of Frente Amplio.

José Ramírez, one of the proponents, said that in 2015 the attacks rose to more than 3,000 cases in which there were severe effects.
