A bill aims to punish owners whose cars make noise or pollute the environment

March 9, 2017 by Staff News Writer

The Constitutional Chamber green-lighted a regulation that allows to punish owners whose cars produce noise or emissions of gases, smoke or pollutant particles that exceed the limits.

The magistrates, by a majority, declared constitutional Bill No. 19,636, which aims to add an incision to the Traffic Law, which regulates these fines.

Five judges voted positive, while José Paulino Hernández and Anamari Garro indicated that the project could violate the law, as it does not specify the active subject’s identification of the sanctioned act.

This bill has not been passed yet. Legislators will have to read it.
