A bus hit the train-crossing smart barriers… Again

March 2, 2017 by Staff News Writer

At about 6:30 pm on Tuesday, a blue bus hit and bent the train-crossing smart barriers installed at the junction of Pirro in Heredia.

The mechanisms of road control were installed less than a month ago and they were inaugurated last week.

Ginnés Rodriguez, spokeswoman for the Public Service Company of Heredia (ESPH), said that although the devices are still operating normally, the maintenance staff had to adjust them.

This is the second incident since the inauguration and the third since they were placed. Each barrier has a cost of 100,000 colones,”

explained Rodriguez.

The intelligent system became a reality in Heredia thanks to a public-private alliance between the Municipality of Heredia and ESPH.
