A Costa Rican actress talked about the sexual assault that she suffered when she was younger

October 20, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Few victims of sexual abuse dare to tell their story, and Rocío Carranza, a Costa Rican actress who was raped when she was younger, is one of them, She decided to tell her story through her Facebook profile to fight against those abuses.

3 months ago she ran into the man who assaulted her so she insulted him and berated him. The aggressor justified his action saying that all was her fault for not responding to his advances and not being interested in someone else.

It is not the first time the actress talks about this issue. She posted on her Facebook the following statement:

It can´t be possible that the vast majority of women that I´ve talked about this issued declared that they are living a reality similar to mine, and that they had similar experiences when they were young girls (…) it is not possible that these acts are ignored or hidden and we only know about them when it is too late and the results are a pregnant teenager, a raped girl or a dead woman.

Many social network users thanked her for her courage and expressed their concerns about the situation, but there were also negative and disrespectful comments regarding the situation denounced by the actress.
