A doctor will go to trial for medical malpractice

December 22, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Four years ago, model Chistina García filed a complaint and now Doctor Vargas Scott was accused of committing serious injury.

Garcia claimed that she paid more than 2 million colones for an esthetic surgery in her gluteus, but months later, she denounced a series of health complications that resulted in physical injuries that risked her life.

The woman said that she underwent an aesthetic procedure in order to improve her figure, but she had health problems since the doctor apparently injected her PMMA biopolymers (liquid silicone).

Júrisis firm, García’s representative, confirmed that the trial will take place on January 23rd and January 27th at the Criminal Court of Pavas, San José.

When the complaint arose, Vargas denied the allegations. On January 10th, 2013, at a press conference, he declared that the patient was discharged in perfect condition, as stated in her file. In addition, according to him, she later presented photographs of scars that were not made by him.

In 2013, the Association of Plastic Surgeons reported that Vargas Scott is a general practitioner and he did not hold a titlethat prove him as a plastic surgeon.
