Through social networks, people reported that the security guard from Epic Bat & Lounge took out a 20-year-old man for having long hair. The incident ocurred on October 14th.

However, due to the controversy that arose, bar representatives declared that the young man was taken out for trying to start a fight after being requested to tie his hair because those were the rules of the place. The man refused to do so.

Facebook users described the action as discriminatory and sexist and the alleged victim’s sister argued that it was a violation of his human rights and a discriminatory act.

América Meléndez, manager of the bar, confirmed the incident and stated that men are asked not to wear the hair down for security reasons. According to her, people need to have their faces uncovered in case that an unexpected situation takes place. As consequence, loose hair, hats, caps or sweaters are not allowed. She also confirmed that the rules are written in the bar entrance. She concluded that he was not taken out, he was asked to tie his hair, but he loosed it again.
