A pregnant woman was affected by La Platina’s closure

December 22, 2016 by Staff News Writer

A woman had to be taken from La Platina bridge to Carit maternity because she started labor when she was caught in a traffic jam.

The young woman was accompanied by her friend Wilkin Barquero. He said that they left Naranjo in the early morning because she had a 5-centimeter dilatation. She requested to be transferred to Carit maternity, because she had lost babies in the past and all her medical controls were conducted in that hospital.

Near Castella intersection, her situation got complicated and they had to ask for medical support.

The Traffic Police escorted the ambulance that assisted the woman. Thanks to that, they could arrive to Carit maternity, where she is receiving medical care.

The National Road Council (CONAVI) ordered the 24-hour closure in La Platina due to expansion works. The situation caused a terrible road chaos.
