Administrative board proposal for Manuel Antonio park

May 12, 2016 by Staff News Writer

Karla Prendas, legislator for the party Partido Liberación Nacional (PLN), presented a law project aiming to create an administrative board for the national park Manuel Antonio, in Quepos.

The idea is that the park has financial and administrative capacity, so that it can invest 50% of its income for the protection, consolidation and maintenance of the park. The remaining 50% of the resources will be used for land acquisition, including other protected areas in Aguirre, Parrita, Los Santos and national park La Cangreja.

With this reform, the directive board will have representatives from the region, from the Environment and Energy Ministry and from the Instituto Costarricense de Turismo (ICT).
