After leaving prison, a man created a criminal gang

December 22, 2016 by Staff News Writer

The leader of a criminal gang dedicated to committing violent assaults on constructions, buildings, houses and apartments had a 24-year sentence for similar offenses, but in 2014, due to a prison benefit, he could leave prison.

Sandí was arrested on December 21st on suspicion of assaulting a building in Los Angeles at Santo Domingo de Heredia.

The prosecution detained two individuals surnamed Gutiérrez and Luna, who apparently committed robberies by posing as officials from the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) and the Immigration Police.

They took advantage of the fact that most of the builders are Nicaraguans. Inside the building, the suspects allegedly gagged and threatened the victims in order to steal their belongings and tools,

informed the prosecutor ‘s office in a statement.

Suspects are under investigation for 14 robberies that occurred between August 16th and November 30th 2016.

The Public Ministry announced that it will transfer Sandí to Alajuela so that the victims of assaults can recognize him.
