Agricultural workers tried to kill their bosses

October 24, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Armed with shovels and stones, four agricultural workers attempted to kill their bosses on Sunday, in a coffee farm in the town of Aquiares de Turrialba.

The suspects allegedly broke into the house where the victims lived and attempted to assassinate them.

A quick action by the Public Force prevented the crime, because they intervened quickly.

The workers labored collecting coffee on the farm. Apparently, a labor discrepancy between the bosses and the workers generated the situation.

After the arrest, the Criminal Court of Turrialba issued three months of preventive custody against the suspects, all Nicaraguan nationals. Their names are Martínez Urrutia, Pérez Calero, Reyes Ríos and Gómez López. They will be investigated for two crimes of attempted homicide.
