Alarming audio clips about national emergency are fake

September 4, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Do not fall for it! The country is not in an emergency or crisis situation.
The National Commission of Emergencies (CNE) denied -via Facebook- the contents of fake audio clips that have gone viral recently, alarming citizens about an alleged national emergency.

The audios caused fear and uncertainty among the Costa Rican population. A female voice warned about a national emergency and urged citizens to take the necessary security measures since the entire country would be paralyzed by a national strike. This situation caused an immediate response and many doubts.

The authorities urge Costa Ricans to ignore these messages and also remember to always ask official sources to corroborate the information.
