Alert for products with Salmonella is false

January 12, 2017 by Staff News Writer

This message is being shared on social media and through messaging services:

The Ministry of Health advises NOT to buy any products from the Eskimo brand: no juices or yogurts because they have been analyzed and it is confirmed that they bring Salmonella bacteria, the results were positive. We must share the information because antibiotics against that bacterium are scarce. And people are already selling those products at low prices to get rid of them… Sharing this can save your family.”

This information is false and it is not the first alert that seeks to scare the population.

The warning was denied through the press office of the Ministry of Health. It was noted that 15 days ago the same message was being shared but with a different brand name.

The Ministry asked the population not to fall into the trap.
