Alvarado invites US companies to expand operations in the country

March 12, 2019 by Staff News Writer

President Carlos Alvarado invited several companies with US capital to expand their operations in Costa Rica.

On Monday, the president started an investment attraction tour. His first stop was the city of Seattle, in the state of Washington, where he met with the companies Starbucks, Amazon and Microsoft.

With the authorities of Microsoft, Alvarado stressed that Costa Rica currently hosts an important part of the company’s support operations and told them that the country has the human talent and the greatest willingness to expand its operations.

The technology company, with 25 years of presence in Costa Rica, has concentrated its operations with a strong emphasis on regional customer service and corporate sales. It has more than 730 employees.

In the case of Starbucks, which opened its first retail store in the country in 2012, the president spoke with its representatives about the possibility of strengthening and deepening research and the application of new technologies in coffee crops.

This Tuesday Alvarado will go to Silicon Valley and San Francisco with the Minister of Commerce, Dyalá Jiménez (Presidency).

Likewise, the Decarbonization Plan of this administration will be presented.
