January 22, 2019 by Staff News Writer

On Monday, President Carlos Alvarado began an international tour that will take him to the city of Davos, Switzerland, and later to Panama City.

In Davos, the president will attend the 49th edition of the World Economic Forum, where he will meet with leaders of international organizations, businessmen and more than a hundred heads of state to talk about his administration’s plan against climate change through the decarbonization of the economy, as well as the promotion of the attraction of foreign investment to foster employment creation and therefore the economic reactivation.

The theme of the forum is “Globalization 4.0: Forming a global architecture in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution”.

Minister of Commerce Dyalá Jiménez will accompany the president, as well as the Minister of Science and Technology, Luis Adrián Salazar.

On January 25th, Alvarado will leave Davos to go to Panama. In the neighboring nation he will participate in the World Youth Day in the framework of the visit of Pope Francis to the American continent.

Alvarado assured that he will not have any bilateral meeting with the maximum representative of the Catholic Church, but he will be able to have a brief meeting with him.

On Saturday, he will have a meeting with Costa Rican youth who will be part of the Day and will hold a meeting with the President of Panama, Juan Carlos Varela. This is the only bilateral encounter in Alvarado’s agenda in this country.

On Sunday, he will end his tour by attending the Mass offered by the Pope at 8 am.
