October 23, 2019 by Staff News Writer

The Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) identified an American killed in Garabito de Puntarenas as Jason Allan New, 55. This was confirmed by the press department of the institution.

The incident occurred at about 12:27 pm in a condominium located in Jacó on Monday, October 21st.

The now deceased was found past noon after his partner gave notice to members of the Public Force in the area. The latter moved to the condominium where he lived in downtown Jacó and that was when they found the body lying on the floor of the apartment room.

Upon review, the victim’s body showed defensive wounds against sharp weapon in hands and feet,”

they added.

The cause, according to the OIJ, is under investigation, as he did not have larger deep wounds.

According to a source, the subject would have been tied with a blanket on his neck and this would eventually have killed him. In the scene they found bleeding in various parts of the body.
