ANEP says there are dissidents in the government who want the strike to continue

November 7, 2018 by Staff News Writer

Within the government there are important levels of dissidence (…) and they recommend maintaining this social-union unity at all costs.”

These were the first words of the Secretary General of the Association of Public and Private Employees (ANEP), Albino Vargas, during the union rally in Plaza de La Democracia.

Vargas said they also have information that the

Plan B of the Executive Power is privatization, dismissal of public employees, elimination of pension funds, cuts in social projects.”

He announced that this Thursday they will demonstrate in front of the Central Bank to protest the increase in the exchange, which they see as “manipulation that is enriching a small group that supports Alvarado.”
