Another alleged member of Tío’s gang was caught

January 23, 2018 by Staff News Writer

The Public Force arrested another man, who apparently is part of La banda de Tío (Tío’s gang), an organized group being targeted by the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) in the 40 operations that were carried out this morning.

According to the Ministry of Public Security (OIJ), the subject was stopped at the gas station of Pueblo Viejo de Mansión in Nicoya, Guanacaste, when he was supplying the vehicle in which he apparently tried to flee.

The subject named Chaves, also known as “barbas”, is a member of the gang led by Edgar Marcia Cruz, aka “Tío” (uncle), for whom the MSP issued an alert to locate him, since he is on the run.

The MSP indicated that the officers, who possess the information of the subjects sought by the OIJ after the raids they conducted today, identified him and immediately apprehended him.
