App to report discrimination against LGBT people

May 28, 2018 by Staff News Writer

A new application will allow to report cases of discrimination against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBTI) people.

The initiative will be presented on Tuesday by the Front for Equal Rights (FDI), a union of organizations, groups, and independent activists that seeks to recognize and guarantee the enjoyment of all human rights in Costa Rica.

The technological tool of citizen vigilance will allow, on the one hand, to report cases of discrimination, and on the other hand, it will help educate and sensitize the population on human rights issues, as well as empowering people in the knowledge of their rights.

As part of the platforms that will be presented on the official FDI website, a virtual human rights online course will be available in portable format and a legal compendium that collects the main instruments that protect the rights of LGBTI people.

The activity, in which the details of the tools will be offered, will be held next Tuesday at 4 pm at Manos en la Masa restaurant, behind the Magaly Cinema, in Barrio Escalante.

The presentation will be made by the project managers, Michelle Jones Pérez and José Daniel Clarke.

The announcement will be made after the celebration of the National Day against Homophobia, Lesbofobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia, which was commemorated on May 17th.
