Argentinian tourist raped in Sámara

September 3, 2018 by Staff News Writer

A man named Pereira López is serving three months of preventive prison on suspicion of committing crimes of rape and aggravated robbery to the detriment of an Argentinian tourist.

The events occurred on Saturday at Sámara beach, in Guanacaste. At the moment, the causes behind the crime and the modus operandi are unknown.

This happens almost a month after the crimes of tourists Arantxa Gutiérrez López, 31, in Tortuguero, and María Trinidad Mathus Tenorio, 25, in Santa Teresa de Cóbano. The first was killed on August 4th in a sexual assault, while the second died a day later after an assault attempt.

After these cases, two similar cases were reported: a rape on August 13th and a attempted rape four days later; both cases against foreign tourists.
